One of the first things you’ll notice is its charming appearance. The original factory sunroof operates perfectly and was completely rebuilt in 2018 using high-quality components from ISP West. Combined with the full-length roof rack, rear window louvres, original export bumpers with attractive patina, and pop-out rear side windows, it gives the car a distinctive and authentic character.
The interior has also received significant attention. A completely new interior was installed in 2018, along with new seals and trim throughout. Details such as the bamboo parcel shelf beneath the dashboard, the original ISP West tachometer, and the additional oil pressure and oil temperature gauges create a stylish and functional driving environment.
Mechanically, this Variant is much more than just a beautiful classic. The engine was fully rebuilt and upgraded in 2024/2025 to 1835 cc, featuring an Engle W100 camshaft, 1:1.25 ratio rockers, modified cooling system, dual Weber 34 ICT carburetors, and a CSP Python Type 3 stainless steel 4-into-1 exhaust system. The result is a reliable and responsive engine producing approximately 90 horsepower, with excellent low-end torque. It was built for drivability and pulling power rather than outright speed.
The fully rebuilt Freeway Flyer gearbox, completed in 2021, makes cruising at higher speeds comfortable and relaxed.
