Volkswagen Beetle Convertible 1962 – a uniquely original example, a true time capsule
A very special 1962 Volkswagen Bug Convertible, imported long ago from Ohio (USA). This is not a restored car, but a genuine survivor: largely in its original paint, with only a few touch-ups here and there. Even the interior is still completely original, just as it left the factory.
The car comes with its original service booklet, which lists the same engine number as the engine currently installed. This confirms that it still has its rare, original matching-numbers engine.
We sold this Beetle seven years ago to a collector who has now traded it back in. During those seven years, the Bug has not been on the road. It runs well, but due to the long period of storage, a small service is recommended.
The odometer shows 82,000 miles (approx. 132,000 km), which we strongly believe to be the original mileage. Everything about the car breathes authenticity: all components have aged together, with no mix-and-match of parts.
In terms of metalwork and body condition, this Beetle is in very solid, healthy shape. The battery tray was repaired in the past, but apart from that there are no rust-through areas.
If you are looking for an exceptionally original Bug Convertible with light patina and an honest, unrestored character—an example where most parts left the factory together—then this is a rare opportunity. Extremely hard to find in such authentic condition today.
