This stunning 1974 baywindow crewcab is a rare sight with a truly unique history.

The story: Born for island life

This classic was delivered new in 1974 to sun-drenched Las Palmas (Canary Islands). Thanks to the perfect island climate—dry, sunny, and absolutely free of road salt—the bodywork has stood the test of time exceptionally well.

The M-code plate (the factory birth certificate) reveals some highly unusual, original factory options:

Heavy-duty shock absorbers front and rear for optimal driving comfort.

A larger oil bath air filter (still present), originally fitted due to the dusty roads on the island.

Three-point seatbelts in the front (still present and functional).

M-code transport option: Delivered from the factory with extra fuel in the tank for transport by train and ferry to the islands.

Condition and maintenance

A few years ago, this vw bay crewcab pick-up was lovingly treated to a fresh coat of paint and a completely new interior. The vehicle still looks very neat and well-cared for. Having covered only about 6,000 kilometers over the last 8 years, it has been used purely for recreational purposes.

The paint shows a few minor, characteristic imperfections here and there. However, this fits the authentic look of this ‘working class vehicle’ perfectly. Mechanically and engine-wise, the Volkswagen is in great condition; it starts, shifts, and drives wonderfully.

The ultimate family cruiser or commercial vehicle

In our opinion, the a VW crewcab is one of the coolest classic Volkswagens around.
