Volkswagen Type 3 Squareback 1600A standard version – rare, original and honest
Offered for sale: a special Volkswagen Type 3 Squareback, imported from Italy and supplied with Italian registration papers. This is a fully original, unrestored car – exactly the way enthusiasts like to see them.
The bodywork was resprayed once in the past. This was done neatly, but it is not a high-end, full restoration paint job, which fits perfectly with the honest character of the car. The interior is completely original, including the upholstery and trim; only the carpet set has been replaced at some point. Everything still breathes the atmosphere of its era.
The 1600cc engine runs well, the car drives, brakes and functions as it should, and technically it makes a very healthy impression. The chassis is in excellent condition. There are 2 to 3 small areas that require welding (inner wings and a small section in one of the fenders). These repairs can be carried out for you by agreement.
This is a rare standard version, the so-called Type 3 “A” version. From the factory, this model was delivered without decorative trim and with less chrome than its Deluxe siblings. For example, the quarter windows are painted rather than chrome-plated. This understated specification makes it especially appealing.
